Slovak automotive sector is recovering faster than elsewhere
The Slovak automotive sector is recovering faster than elsewhere. The Bratislava plant of Volkswagen as well as the Trnava plant of PSA already run at full capacity, and Kia Motors plans to add a third shift on September 2 (it will stop for a regular two-week summer break next Monday). The Nitra plant of Jaguar Land Rover has not disclosed plans for adding a third shift, but it was running at two shifts even before the pandemic. While global demand for cars is expected to dro
Government wants to tax income hidden in tax havens
Finance Minister Eduard Heger, in a revision to the Income Tax Act, aims to tax individuals hiding their income in tax havens. Individuals will be taxed on income generated by companies under their control, even if the profits are not paid out as dividends but remain parked in tax havens. The rate will be 7%, or 35% for profits of companies from non-cooperating countries, such as the Seychelles and Panama. (hnonline.sk)
Vláda chce zdaniť príjmy schované v daňových rajoch
Minister financií Eduard Heger chce v novele Zákona o dani z príjmov postihnúť ľudí, ktorí svoje príjmy skrývajú vo firmách so sídlom v daňových rajoch.
Bratislava highway bypass has quality issues
A consortium led by Cintra of Spain built the first part of the Bratislava highway bypass in such a low quality that the authorities only allowed its conditional opening. All shortcomings must be addressed before normal use is allowed. These include cracked concrete and metal safety barriers, insufficiently reinforced slopes, poor-quality curbs and median strips, rusty noise barriers and poor-quality service roads. Interestingly, Cintra will operate the bypass for 30 years an

Slovenské farmárske družstvo (Daniel Krátký) controls Slovak farms with 40,000 ha of land and two farms in Belarus with 10,000 ha. Diaľničný obchvat Bratislavy má problémy s kvalitou
Konzorcium pod vedením španielskej firmy Cintra postavilo prvú časť diaľničného obchvatu Bratislavy v takej nízkej kvalite, že úrady umožnili iba jej podmienečné otvorenie. Pred získaním povolenia na trvalú prevádzku musia byť chyby odstránené. Ide o popraskané betónové a kovové zvodidlá, nedostatočne spevnené svahy, nekvalitné krajnice a stredný deliaci pruh, hrdzavé protihlukové steny a nekvalitné preložky ciest. Cintra sa pritom bude o obchvat starať 30 rokov a mala by mať

Hydrogen No.1 priority of Economy Minister Richard Sulík
The use of hydrogen for powering cars, buses, and trains will be my No.1 priority in the coming six months, said Economy Minister Richard Sulík (SaS) at a hydrogen conference attended by cabinet ministers, CEOs of the largest Slovak companies, and academics. Matador’s CEO Štefan Rosina sees hydrogen as the top option for powering cars, too. Maroš Šefčovič, European Commission Vice-President, was talking up EU subsidies for research into this area. Sulík wants to subsidize the
