State wants new children’s hospital in Bratislava’s Vajnory
The government has recently launched construction of a €1.2bn hospital with 950 beds in Bratislava’s Vajnory district and plans to complete it in 2030. Health Minister Kamil Šaško also intends to locate a new children’s hospital and a center for pediatric cancer treatment at the site. The Netherlands is expected to provide a loan for the project. Once the Vajnory hospital is completed, he plans to close the hospitals in Kramáre and the Old Town. Discussions are still pending
Agrofert investing €40m in dairy farms
Czech group Agrofert (Andrej Babiš) opened a new dairy farm in Horné Obdokovce near Topoľčany, investing €12m. PM Robert Fico attended the opening ceremony. Doctors will collect €493m in fees from patients this year, 54% more than in 2023, according to a survey by research agency 2muse for the Advance HM Institute. The survey was conducted this summer among patients who visited a general practitioner or specialist, excluding dentists. Net electricity exports down this year
Slovakia reported net electricity exports of 1.4 TWh in 1–3Q, down 39% annually. The decline was driven by a 4% drop in domestic production, particularly in hydroelectric plants due to lower rainfall. Electricity consumption remained unchanged from last year. Enery expands in Slovakia
Austria-based renewable power producer Enery acquired a portfolio of 32 solar farms with a combined installed capacity of 34.6 MW across Slovakia from UK-based ContourGlobal (51%) and Swiss Energy Infrastructure Partners. Mobis gets €12m investment incentive for €66m new plant in Žilina
The government approved a €12m investment incentive for a €66m project by Korean company Mobis , a supplier to Kia Motors. Mobis will build a new plant in Gbeľany near Žilina by 2028, employing 300 people to manufacture airbags, brakes, and drive units for electric vehicles. Mobis also plans a second plant in Nováky, bringing total investment to €250m across both sites. Last year, Mobis reported sales of €2bn and employed 2,000 people in Slovakia. ( forbes.sk )
Gevorkyan establishing defense sector subsidiary
Powder metallurgy firm Gevorkyan (Artur Gevorkyan) is establishing a subsidiary, Gevorkyan Force Defense, focused on the defense sector. It has supplied this market for years, and deliveries have recently increased. The latest example is cooperation in the development and production of ammunition components.
