Ziegler Group to invest €255m into wood processing plant in Rimavská Sobota
German Ziegler Group plans to invest €255m into a plant processing 1m cubic meters of wood annually in the new state-run industrial park in Rimavská Sobota. The plant, which will make wooden construction components, will create 430 jobs upon completion in 2023. Local wood processors warn that the new plant will worsen the current lack of coniferous wood in Slovakia. Economy Minister Richard Sulík (SaS) pointed out that of Slovakia’s total wood logging, 8-10m cubic meters, about 2m is being exported without processing.
