YIT, VIG, bwsg and Heimstaden to put up €6bn and create 40,000 rental apartments

Deputy PM Štefan Holý (Sme rodina) expects that thanks to the recently passed legislation on state support for rental housing and the new agency for state-supported rental housing, investors YIT, Vienna Insurance Group, bwsg and Heimstaden will put up €6bn and create 40,000 rental apartments. Rents will be 30-40% below the market level. Criteria that applicants for these apartments will have to meet should be published in September. In December, the agency will launch a reservation system for rental apartments. Some of the apartments will be available for public sector workers.
