Deputy PM Veronika Remišová wanted Slovakia to spend €2.9bn in EU funds for 2014-20 in 2021 and another €3.4bn in 2022. The reality was €1.9bn and €2.2bn, and Slovakia comes 3rd-worst in the EU in spending EU funds due to administrative complexity and cumbersome public procurement. In the last year of drawing, Slovakia still has €6.3bn to spend. Only €1bn will be transferred to energy price compensations, although the government wanted €1.5bn.
Slovakia was allocated a further €12.6bn in EU funds for 2021-27.
