Wages rose 10% in 2023
The average wage in the Slovak economy rose by 9.7% in nominal terms to 1,430 last year, the statistics office ŠÚ reported. The growth pace was the highest since 2004. However, real wages fell by 0.7% due to high inflation. Real wages will erase all losses from the period of elevated inflation only at the turn of 2025-26. Real wages fell the most in arts, entertainment, and recreation (-3.6%) last year. In contrast, they rose the most in real estate (3.2%). In Bratislava, the average salary was €1,751. (pravda.sk) Due to a sharp decline in inflation, real wage growth should accelerate to 4% this year, boosting household consumption.
