Volkswagen-Gotion battery factory in Šurany to launch production in 2028

Volkswagen is set to formally complete its entry into the Gotion battery plant in Šurany in 2H27, the plant’s CEO Pavol Krokoš said. VW unit PowerCo will hold 49% of the plant and Gotion 51%. The first hall, with annual capacity of 10 GWh, will start production in 2H28 and supply VW exclusively. The plant will launch a second hall of the same capacity in 2029-30 and later consider doubling capacity to 40 GWh. The plant will employ 1,300 people in the first phase.
