Untaxed cigarettes accounted for 8% of total consumption

Untaxed cigarettes accounted for 7.7% of total consumption in Slovakia this summer, representing a potential annual loss of €95m in excise tax and VAT, according to the SZZV brand products association’s Empty Packs Survey. The untaxed cigarettes originate in ex-Soviet territories and illegal factories in Slovakia.
