Several taxi services report driver shortages and clients must wait longer to get a ride. Many taxi drivers were forced to find a new job during the pandemic, mostly as couriers or in retail, and now are reluctant to return. Branislav Masár, head of the taxi union ATSR, estimates Bratislava has 30-50% fewer taxi drivers compared to 2019. Tax hailing app Bolt, though, says it has enough drivers and is expanding to other Slovak towns. It is transporting not only people but also restaurant meals and groceries.
