More than 70% of Slovaks support their country’s membership in NATO and the EU, according to a Globsec survey. Half of Slovaks perceive Russia as a threat. Only 49% would defend Slovakia if attacked by a foreign country, the lowest share among CEE countries. In Poland, for example, the figure is 84%. Within the region, 73% believe their country should increase defense spending, compared to 63% in Slovakia. Most people in Slovakia and across the region believe democracy is a good thing.
