Slovakia still cooperates with Ukraine

State-owned power grid operator SEPS extended its emergency electricity assistance agreement with Ukraine for another year. Slovakia will continue helping Ukraine stabilize its power grid in case of Russian attacks. PM Fico previously threatened to cancel the agreement after Ukraine stopped transporting Russian gas. Last year, SEPS provided Ukraine with 57 GWh of regulatory assistance; it does not derive any profit from the assistance. (hnonline.sk)
Ukraine has started importing gas via Slovakia to replenish nearly empty storage facilities. The cheaper Hungarian route is now fully booked, forcing suppliers to use Slovakia’s more expensive capacity.
