Slovakia is using Hikvision products, a potential security risk
Slovakia is using the technologies of Chinese video surveillance company Hikvision to monitor highways and the border with Ukraine, and aimed to use them in police cells. In 2019, the USA put the company into its trade blacklist. It is minority-owned (some sources say wholly owned) by the Chinese government, which uses its technologies in Uighur internment camps. Much as Huawei products, Hikvision’s kit may pose a security risk. Despite this, it is used by parliaments in Brussels, Prague, and London. The new Slovak government is set to prevent the use of further Chinese technologies.
