Fully 61% of top high school graduates in mathematics studied at a university abroad last year, compared to 46% in 2016. Slovakia is facing one of the highest brain drain rates globally, and it is accelerating, warns the Institute for Education Policy. The share of university students studying abroad is well above the OECD median of 4%. In total, 17% of high school graduates who enrolled in university left to study abroad in 2022, rising to 20% last year.
