Slovakia has weak innovation potential

Slovakia ranked 24th among 27 EU countries in the latest European Innovation Scoreboard, achieving just 63% of the EU average. Strengths included exports of medium- and high-tech products, market-launch sales of innovations, and the number of individuals engaged in lifelong learning. Weaknesses included low spending on venture capital and research, and poor employee mobility. Sweden and Ireland led the innovation rankings in the European Commission report.
