Slovak term deposit rates 2nd-highest in the euro area
In January, Slovak banks offered an interest rate of 2.1% on 1-year term deposits, which is the 2nd-highest level in the euro area after France, ECB data show. Inflation, though, is expected to stay just below 10% this year. Slovak banks are offering relatively high rates in response to declining household savings, with retail bank deposits falling from €46.3bn in July 2022 to €45.8bn in January.
