Slovak households enjoy cheap energy

Household electricity prices in the EU averaged €28.9 per 100 kWh in the first half of 2024, down from €29.4 in 1H23, Eurostat reported. Average gas prices fell by 7% annually to €11 per 100 kWh. The low Slovak prices reflect high state subsidies, which consumers will start to repay next year in the fiscal consolidation package.
