Slovak beer consumption fell from 100 liters per capita in 1990 to last year’s 69.4 l, reported the statistics office ŠÚ. In addition to changes in consumer preferences, rising prices are also to blame, from €0.90 in 2010 to last year's €1.30 for half a liter of draught beer. On the other hand, the price of bottled beer did not change much. Beer production in Slovakia increased 24% last year to 203m liters of alcoholic beer. Imports amounted to another 176m liters. (sme.sk) The highest beer consumption is in the Czech Republic, 142 l per person annually.
