Russian and Chinese hacker groups attack Slovakia

Last year, Russian and Chinese hacker groups were mainly behind cyberattacks in Slovakia, according to the security authority NBÚ’s 2024 Cyber Security Report. They used social engineering and malware methods and attempted to compromise state institutions. Most attacks were not specifically targeted at Slovakia but were part of broader campaigns directed at the EU. Some were carried out by state-supported groups, while others were motivated by profit. In 1Q, the land registry went down due to a hacker attack.
