PZP insurance policies getting more expensive

Transport insurance policies, including compulsory PZP and accident motor insurance, were 16.1% more expensive annually in April, ŠÚ reported. Prices had remained relatively stable until 2021, when they began rising by 8% and later accelerated. Despite higher premiums, insurers paid out 10% more in PZP indemnities than they collected in premiums in 1Q. As car and repair costs continue to increase, premiums are expected to rise further. The number of traffic accidents last year returned to pre-pandemic levels. The average annual PZP premium is €139-146 in Slovakia, compared with €171 in Czechia, €180 in Poland, and €150 in Hungary.
