PMÚ fined 11 Slovak and Czech cable manufacturers €97m

The anti‑trust authority PMÚ fined 11 Slovak and Czech cable manufacturers €97m for price rigging between 2009–22. These include Prysmian Kablo (€20m), Elkond HHK (€2m), Vuki (€0.8m), Prysmian Kabely (€27m), Kablo Vrchlabí (€15.7m), NKT (€30m), Precon (€0.3m), Tele‑Fonika Kabely (€1.5m), and Kabelovna Kabex (€0.7m). The companies may appeal. Their copper and aluminum cables are used in sectors such as railway and security infrastructure, optical networks, telecoms, electricity transmission, and construction. Two companies—ICS Industrial Cables and Prakab—admitted to the cartel and provided evidence, and therefore were not fined. The cartel was coordinated by the Association of Cable and Wire Manufacturers CR&SR.
