PM Robert Fico, who has lost his parliamentary majority, said the coalition intends to govern until the next scheduled election in September 2027. He ruled out an early election and acknowledged that some government bills would fail to pass. He blamed coalition partners SNS and Hlas, whose parliamentary caucuses have fallen apart. Smer will seek support for government bills from independent MPs aligned with Tomáš Taraba. Fico's priorities include scrapping postal voting for Slovaks living abroad and overhauling sports funding. Taraba opposes changes to election rules. The opposition is calling for an early election as soon as possible and says the election campaign has already begun.
