The Piešťany spa doubled its losses to €1.6m last year despite a 5% rise in sales to a record €47.3m. It has operated at a loss since 2020 and was the only one of the ten largest Slovak spas to end in the red last year. The loss was mainly due to salary increases for doctors and medical staff. Foreigners accounted for 30% of guests, with a sharp decline in clients from Israel. The spa is owned by British company Drencan.
