Penta doubled its profit to €300m

Penta, an investment group, posted a record €300m profit last year, doubling it under an annual comparison, says its partner Marián Slivovič. Jaroslav Haščák left as its CEO last year, and two partners, Jozef Oravkin and Eduard Maták, also left. In addition to a cash payout, Oravkin is also set to take several real estate projects with him, while Maták will be paid out in cash only. Slovalco (aluminum), Fortuna (betting) and Dr.Max (pharmacies) did the best. Its Slovak and Czech publishers reported a €20m profit. It stopped the sale of a stake in its hospital chain last year and is buying more hospitals in Czechia and expanding Dr.Max in Italy and Romania. Following last year's sales of Mecom (meat) and Aero (aircraft), it wants to sell two Polish companies, Empik and Iglotex. It plans to stay in other businesses long term.
