Parliament approved Smer’s proposal to increase payments for weekend and holiday work by linking them to the minimum wage for further discussion. It is not clear whether parliament will give its nod in the final vote. The current government froze the pay two years ago. Companies and labor unions reckon that their agreement on the record growth of the minimum wage from €646 to €700 from January 1, 2023, was also made possible by the continued freezing of the pay.
