Patria of Finland has submitted the best offer in the €330m Defense Ministry tender to purchase 76 armored vehicles, N daily sources say. Five countries submitted bids for four types of vehicles, namely Czechs with a Pandur vehicle, Americans with Stryker, and Romanians and Spaniards with Piranha. The bids will be evaluated by a 70-member team and the transporters must pass practical tests. The involvement of domestic industry will be an important factor. The government should approve the winner by the end of March 2022. (dennikN.sk)

Patria offered a price of €460-495m and pledged to make 70% of the vehicles in Slovakia. Its main partner is the excavator manufacturer CSM Industry (Tomáš Maroš). Czech Pandur offered a price of €486-526m, while the remaining three bids were uncompetitive. The bidders blame the higher-than-expected price on rising material prices.
