O2 set to become market leader
The number of Orange mobile telephony customers is falling, while O2’s keep rising. O2 overtook Slovak Telekom last year to become No.2 and it is possible that in a few quarters it will overtake Orange as well. Orange reported an annual decline of 82,000 clients to 2.404m at the end of June and O2 grew by 33,000 to 2.364m (client numbers based on 3-month activity). Slovak Telekom had 2.206m clients and 4ka 605,000 (year-end figure). The market dynamics may be changed by O2's decision to raise prices again from September 12. Last year, all operators increased their prices.
