No compensations for high energy prices

So far, the government has not come up with any proposal to compensate high energy prices to companies or households. The price of electricity on the Prague exchange PXE rose from €55 per MWh to €120 and the price of gas from €14 per MWh to €80 over the past year. Opposition parties are demanding that the state subsidize prices at least for households, or cap them at current levels. This may bankrupt energy suppliers. The government is considering that the Environmental Fund, which collects proceeds from the sale of emission allowances, may compensate households and companies. It is struggling to come up with any compensation scheme before the winter comes.
