The Justice Ministry prepared legislation that makes it harder to collect unpaid debts via bailiff officers. Now, bailiffs must leave debtors with a subsistence minimum, about €218 a month, but the new legislation sets out that debtors may keep 70% of their income. Bailiffs may seize just 30% and warn about limiting creditors’ rights. The new legislation is the idea of Sme rodina, which argues it will substantially increase the debtors’ motivation to find jobs.
