South Korean Mobis, a supplier to the Žilina Kia car plant, plans to invest €70m in the expansion of its plant in Žilina and to employ another 350 people there. Last year, it announced a new €180m plant with 300 workers in Nováky. Both investment project are to be completed in 2026. The expansion comes in response to the rapid growth of the Žilina car plant, which will soon start producing electric cars. Both investments will focus on EV components: the Nováky plant will produce electric motors and Žilina will produce airbags and brakes. Last year, Mobis reported €2bn sales and net profit of €62m in Slovakia. It employs 2,100.
