Large companies will save on gas distribution fees

At the last minute and without public discussion, SaS MPs allowed large companies to disconnect from the gas distribution network and connect directly to the international gas pipeline through a major revision to the Energy Act in June. These companies will not pay distribution fees, which will increase by up to a fifth for all remaining customers, both companies and households. This option can be used by about 15 firms that pay €40m annually in distribution fees. They include Duslo, the Malženice gas power plant owned by ZSE, and Slovnaft. They lobbied for the change for at least a decade.
