Large clothing retailers increased sales in Slovakia last year. Poland’s LPP (brands Reserved, Mohito, and Sinsay) remained the leader with a 19% rise in sales to €170m. Discount retailer Takko Fashion grew 11% to €43m, and lingerie chain Calzedonia rose 13% to €25m, while Peek & Cloppenburg stagnated at €38m. Irish chain Primark more than doubled sales last year (+160% to €19m). Apart from Primark, all these retailers were in the black. This year’s challenges include new and higher taxes, along with growing competition from Chinese online marketplaces.
