Kempelen Institute of IT won a grant for artificial intelligence center of excellence

The Kempelen Institute of Intelligent Technologies has secured a €14m Horizon Europe grant to build a center of excellence for artificial intelligence. The Slovak government will match the funding for this key scientific initiative. The project, lorAI (Low Resource Artificial Intelligence), focuses on developing AI tools under resource constraints, such as limited data or computing capacity. Goals include creating a large language model for Slovak and developing tools to combat disinformation. The institute will expand its staff from 70 to 110.
