Istrochem closes down

Agrofert (Andrej Babiš) is closing its plant in Bratislava due to poor economic results, with 200 job losses, said Duslo director Petr Bláha. The plant, formerly known as Istrochem, produced chemicals for the rubber industry. Bláha said it cannot compete with cheap Chinese producers redirecting goods to Europe following US tariffs. A decline in automotive production also reduced tire sales, the plant’s main customer.
