Income inequality in Slovakia is the lowest in the EU
Income inequality in Slovakia is only half that of the euro area average and is the lowest in the EU. Last year, Slovakia replaced Czechia in this position. In Slovakia, the 20% of households with the highest income have 4.2 times the income of the poorest 20%. The largest income gaps were in Ireland, Sweden, and France, up to 10.5-12.3. In addition to the legacy of socialism, the small income inequality in Slovakia is also due to the pension system, namely the small differences between highest and lowest pensions.
