Accommodation facilities hosted 808,000 guests in August, up 9% annually and an all-time high. The pre-pandemic August was surpassed by 16,000 guests, ŠÚ reported. Domestic visitors rose 4% to 484,000, while foreign visitors increased 17%. Among foreign guests, Czechs and Poles predominated. Reports that Czechs are avoiding Slovakia due to the political situation have not been fully confirmed. Following the recent Czech elections, relations between both governments are expected to improve. In the first eight months of this year, the number of guests rose 6% annually to 4.3m.
