China’s Gotion aims to launch production at its new €1.2bn battery factory in September 2026. Last week, it applied for an environmental impact assessment (EIA), but the Environment Ministry has suspended the process pending additional documentation. Gotion has pledged to provide the required materials. The company is already preparing for a potential expansion of capacity from 20 GWh to 40 GWh a year. The government has approved a €214m investment incentive for the project, which will create 1,200 jobs in its first phase.
