Germany’s Black Forest Food group is expanding in Slovakia

Frutree Hlohovec, part of Germany’s Black Forest Food group, is one of Europe's largest manufacturers of dried fruit and nut confectionery. It imports raw materials from across Asia, Africa and Latin America. It produces 4,500 tons of goods annually and last year reported an 80% drop in net profit to €0.2m after a 164% surge in sales to €50.1m. Between 2013 and 2022, under previous ownership from Austria and Germany, the plant reported a cumulative loss of €9.3m. It employs 140.
