Fitch affirmed Slovakia’s A- credit rating with a stable outlook. It says Slovakia faces headwinds, with risks including reliance on the automotive sector, which could be hit by US tariffs, dependence on the German economy that has been in recession for three years, and potential disruption to Russian energy supplies. High fiscal deficits and rising public debt are also concerns. On the positive side, Fitch cited eurozone membership and macroeconomic stability. The A- rating is the 7th-highest possible. Slovakia holds the 5th-best rating from S&P and the 7th-best from Moody’s.
