Gas pipeline operator eustream is no longer laying golden eggs and I think it will never will again, reckons František Čupr, head of gas distribution in EPH of Daniel Křetínský (EPH has 49% of shares and managerial control in eustream). eustream’s profits are falling precipitously and since it must repay €1bn in bonds by 2027, it wants to stop all dividend payments. It has already lost its investment rating, and the additional taxation that the government is considering is “complete nonsense”, says Čupr. According to him, the EU needs years to replace Russian gas. An immediate embargo would mean cutting off some industrial consumers.
