eustream again demanding 70% increase in gas transit fees

Gas pipeline operator eustream, controlled by EPH, is proposing a 70% increase in gas transit fees starting in January 2027. It had requested the same increase for 2026, but utilities regulator ÚRSO approved only a 10% rise. eustream cites a sharp decline in gas shipments, which means the fixed costs of maintaining its massive infrastructure are spread over a much smaller volume of transported gas. After its price proposal was rejected, the company announced layoffs of 120 employees. Last year it posted a net profit of €47m, compared with €277m in 2021.
