The EU may stop the new tax on financial transactions, as it also applies to transfers made by Slovak businesses on their accounts in foreign banks and foreign transactions are taxed more, tax consultant Renáta Bláhová thinks. The government introduced this provision to prevent Slovak companies from circumventing the law by opening an account abroad, and, according to Bláhová, it contradicts several EU legal norms. The EU has not yet commented on the tax.
