Decodom turns profit in 2020 after two years in the red

Decodom, furniture maker owned by Roman Gejdoš and Vladimír Šrámek, posted a small €0.1m net profit last year following two years in the red, despite a 20% drop in sales to €55.5m. At the onset of the pandemic, the company had planned to axe half of its 1,200 jobs. In the end, it laid off 300 people and hired crisis managers led by Jozef Tanzer. Last year’s profit came on the back of cost cutting and the state pandemic assistance. Due to the rising prices of wood and other materials, it increased its furniture prices by 3-9%. This year, it expects €50m in sales.
