Construction starts in Bratislava the lowest since 2003
Only 4,668 apartments were started in the second quarter in Slovakia, a massive 27% annual drop and a 10% fall compared to the 2014-19 average, ŠÚ reported. The decline ranged from 7% in the Banská Bystrica region to 62% in the Košice region. In Bratislava, construction started on just 430 apartments, the fewest since 2003. Construction starts plummeted due to weak demand as buyers wait for housing prices and mortgage rates to fall.
In 2Q, 5,211 apartments were completed, up 11% annually and up 50% compared to the long-term average.
