Coalition will not increase payroll levies
Coalition parties OĽaNO, SaS, and Za ľudí reject the proposal of Labor Minister Milan Krajniak (Sme rodina) to eliminate the cap on pension levies. This should increase the payroll levy intake by €150-190m annually. They are unlikely to back another of Krajniak’s ideas, a parental bonus that would increase pensions for people whose children pay pension levies that would cost €600m annually. PM Eduard Heger (OĽaNO) points to the poor condition of public finances and insists that any pension reform must improve the system’s long-term sustainability. SaS has already rejected the bonus.
All parties agree on another part of the pension reform, linking the retirement age to life expectancy.
