Canadian A Parent Media Co is acquiring streaming platform Filmzie

Canadian media and technology group A Parent Media Co is acquiring a stake in Slovak streaming platform Filmzie, founded in 2018 by Matej Boďa and Milan Gajdoš, for tens of millions of euros. The platform offers 10,000 hours of films, series and documentaries free with advertising and boasts millions of viewers across the US, Latin America, the EU and Australia. Last year, it grew sales sixfold to €25.8m and posted a net profit of €4.9m. Early-stage investor Zero One Hundred contributed €1.6m and now owns a third of the firm. The founders remain in management.
