Under pressure from banks, the government will water down its regulation of loan advertising. Only consumer loans and not mortgages will have to carry the warning “It Costs Money to Borrow Money” on 10% of the ad space. The regulation was proposed by Jana Žitňanská (Za ľudí), head of the parliament’s social affairs committee, as a way to combat what she sees as over-indebtedness of families. She will continue to fight the ads for easy loans.
