Devices within the Govnet network were installed by Slovak intelligence agencies
Suspicious devices within the Govnet network were installed by some branch of Slovak intelligence agencies in response to a cyber attack on the Slovak Foreign Affairs Ministry in 2019, says Peter Pellegrini, the then PM. This was not espionage by foreign actors or the private sector, and the communication of cabinet ministers and prosecutors was not compromised. Pellegrini thinks the police only raided the premises of the eGovernment agency Nases because of a lack of information. What’s more, it disabled devices protecting Govnet, to the detriment of state security. Deputy PM Veronika Remišová responded that the police are still reviewing the devices.
