Sanagro has abandoned its attempt to acquire the farms of Esin Group

Sanagro (Martin Fedor) has abandoned its attempt to acquire the farms of Esin group of Tomáš Kukučka that would have increased its acreage from 19,000 ha to 31,000 ha. This would have made it the second-largest farm group in Slovakia after Gamota (Anton Zsigó; 65,000 ha). Sanagro says talks on the financial settlement failed. Esin gained notoriety by depriving small farmers of their land, and police have launched a probe into its abuse of farming subsidies. Both companies are close to the J&T group.
