Penta posted a drop in profit in 2019
Penta (Jaroslav Haščák and Marek Dospiva) posted an 8% drop in net profit to €265m in 2019, its 5th year in a row with net profit over €200m. The largest profit generators were pharmacy chain Dr.Max, betting firm Fortuna, and Penta Real Estate. The cumulative sales of its companies were down 8% to €6.9bn and their EBITDA profit was down 1% to €434m. Their total assets were up 8% to €11.2bn and the group invested €613m last year. The number of pharmacies rose to 2,190 and their sales were up 17% to €2.7bn. The worst performers are Czech Aero Vodochody, Germany’s machinery firm Gehring, and aluminum smelter Slovalco. The group also owns Prima banka and Privatbanka, meat processor Mecom, and media.
