Water dams and flood barriers are in disrepair
Several water dams and flood barriers are in disrepair and the Danube river is at risk of not being navigable in Slovakia, reckons the control authority NKÚ. It blames the chronic underfunding of the state-owned SVP that demanded funding of €296m in 2010-18 but only received €130m. The water dams Palcmanská Maša, Dobšiná, Hričov and Bešeňová are in a particularly bad condition.
